Will it work without the cloud?
LocalFirst Check reads a smart-home product page and tells you, in plain English, whether the device works locally and with Home Assistant. Before you buy, not after.
No account. No tracking. Reads a page only when you click.
Six answers listings bury
Which route works
Built-in support, an official integration, a community one, or only through the maker’s hub.
Local or cloud
Whether the basics keep working when the internet, or the company, goes away.
Zigbee, Matter, Thread
Plus Z-Wave, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, read from the listing and the spec table.
The hidden extra
A coordinator, bridge or border router that the listing doesn’t mention.
Sign-up required?
Some devices won’t even set up without an app account. Good to know before you buy.
Monthly fees
None, optional or required. Spotted before it becomes a surprise on your card.
Three clicks, no sign-up

The extension reads that one page, only when you click.

Read the verdict
A plain-English answer in a few seconds, with what to check before buying.
It reads one page. Only when you ask.
- No background reading. It has no access to a page until you click the icon on it.
- No account, no tracking. No cookies, no analytics and no ads.
- Shows its confidence. It’s an AI answer, so it says when it isn’t sure.
- No paid placements. No brand pays for, or shapes, the answer.
Before you install
Is it always right?
No. It reads the listing and uses well-known facts about the product, and it tells you how confident it is. Listings can be wrong and firmware changes, so check the maker’s documentation before you buy. When it isn’t sure, it says so instead of guessing.
Which shops does it work on?
Any normal product page. It reads the page title, the product details shops publish for search engines, the specification table and the main text. Chrome’s own pages and the Chrome Web Store can’t be read by any extension.
Does it cost anything?
It’s free during the beta, with 10 checks a day. The limit resets at midnight UTC.
Do I need Home Assistant?
No. The answer is useful for anyone who wants devices that keep working without the maker’s cloud. Home Assistant is simply the most common way people run a local smart home.
What data does it send?
When you click, it sends that page’s address (without tracking parameters), title, product details and up to 8,000 characters of its text, so the answer can be worked out. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Buy the device that stays yours.
Then set it up with the guides: local automations, energy savings and honest gear notes.
